PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Metro, MD, FACS, of Urologic Consultants of Southeastern Pennsylvania, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in urology.
With 13 years of experience in urological surgery, Dr. Metro is an expert in reconstructive urology. He prides himself on being able to help patients and solve medical problems that other doctors cannot treat, and create long-term relationships with his patients. He became involved in this profession because he was interested in going into a surgical sub-specialty where he could improve a patient's quality-of-life, and in his career, he has helped to do just that. At Urologic Consultants of Southeastern Pennsylvania's Albert Einstein Medical Center branch, Dr. Metro developed a regional referral center for the management of urethral stricture disease, male incontinence, Peyronie's Disease and reconstructive urology. In the future, Dr. Metro hopes to continue to be the go-to doctor for reconstructive urology in the Delaware Valley, as well as develop innovative procedures to help patients with their reconstructive needs and quality-of-life issues.
Respected for his knowledge in the industry, Dr. Metro authored and co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles on the subjects of impotence, urethral strictures and urologic trauma. He has written book chapters about surgery for renal, ureteral, and urethral traumas, urethral stricture disease and reconstruction for major genital skin loss. Dr. Metro was one of the initial contributing editors to Urotoday.com, and is a current reviewer for the Journal of Trauma and the Journal of Urology. Additionally, he has been asked to make presentations at meetings all over the world concerning erectile dysfunction, urethral reconstruction and urologic trauma.
Dr. Metro received an MD and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 and 1992, respectively. He completed a residency in urology at The University of Pennsylvania in 2011, and a fellowship in traumatic and reconstructive urology at the University of California in 2002. Recognized for excellence in medicine, Dr. Metro was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry. Additionally, he is a member of The Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Urological Association and Societe Internationale d'Urologie. During his fellowship, Dr. Metro served as a clinical instructor at San Francisco General Hospital.
