City of Newport Beach, California Receives the International Five Star Diamond Award

    NEW YORK, NY, August 11, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The city of Newport Beach received the International Five Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences as a world-class destination. Newport Beach is the first city on the West Coast of the United States to receive this honor for excellence in tourism.

On August 11, 2015 Newport Beach will receive the Award, which represents the highest and most prestigious form of achievement in the tourism and hospitality industry. While the honor is typically awarded to five-star resorts and hotels, spas, restaurants, airlines and cruise lines, exceptional destinations are also recognized. Previous destination winners include Baden-Baden, Germany; Japan; New York City; Lucerne, Switzerland; Turks & Caicos; and Rhode Island among others.

The City Council of Newport Beach will accept the Award on behalf of the City's tourism industry. Tourism and hospitality professionals and members of the press are expected to witness the ceremony, with the Award presented by Mr. Joseph Cinque, president of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Mr. Cinque is proud to present this Award to a city that he calls "the West Coast Riviera". Other awards will go to one of the city's top resorts, Balboa Bay Resort, and another to The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar, a highly acclaimed Newport Beach restaurant featuring internationally renowned Executive Chef Yvon Goetz.
