Homegrown NBA Player-Giving Back-Starkville Celebrates Travis Outlaw Day

    STARKVILLE, MS, August 15, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Giving back to the community has always been a top priority for Travis Outlaw and this year is no different. His hometown of Starkville, MS announces that it will be celebrating its Annual Travis Outlaw Day on August 22, 2015. This day was declared because of Outlaw's accomplishments as a professional NBA player being drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2003 directly from high school. He is a former Starkville High graduate, homegrown Mississippian at heart playing in the NBA league with teams such as Portland Trailblazers, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks; because of the love Starkville has shown him, he gives back to his community by having this annual occasion.

The event will take place from 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at McKee Park. The event is free for everyone with the first 200 people receiving a Travis Outlaw Day T-Shirt. The day includes free food, prize giveaways and an abundance of activities for the whole family! With a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Free Throw and 3 Point Shoot Out being held at Starkville High School Gym with cash prizes for the winners...what more could you ask for? Vans will be available for transport between the park and school gym for those wanting to attend the basketball events. Get a team of six (6) and compete in the Flag Football contest...claim your turf! If you have some serious SKILLS on the GRILL...then enter the BBQ Cook Off contest, no entry fee required. One of the judges for this contest will be none other than City of Starkville's Mayor Parker Wiseman. This year to mark the 11th year, the official After Party Comedy Show will be that night with doors opening at 8 p.m at the Travis Outlaw Center. Tickets are available now.
