LAS VEGAS, NV, August 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours' announces a number of limited-time special discount offers on sightseeing flights for travelers visiting the National Park during the Labor Day 2015 weekend.
Deals are available only for flights originating from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, AZ (Grand Canyon National Park Airport, Tusayan, AZ). Deals must be purchased in advance and online in order to qualify for the discount.
Las Vegas
From Vegas, a select number of seats on the air-only tour will be marked down. This flight goes over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon before returning to Vegas. Total tour time is 3 hours and includes free hotel pick up and drop off.
The deluxe version of this tour includes free hotel pick up and drop off via limousine. It also features an extended flight over the Las Vegas Strip in an EcoStar 130, which is regarded as one of the best helicopters flying today.
What makes the EcoStar 130 so special is it's size. It's 25 percent larger than basic helicopters and is therefore equipped with stadium-style bucket seats. The aircraft also comes with a 180-degree wraparound windshield and excellent climate control, which is important as summer temperatures spike over 100 degrees.
Vegas is also the only place where you can fly below the rim and land on the bottom. This is by far Vegas' most popular flight. It comes with a Champagne picnic and approximately 30-minutes of bottom time. There are basic and deluxe versions of this tour.
The landing tour has a sunset option as well as one where guests can extend it to include a boat ride down the Colorado River plus a VIP ticket to the world-famous Grand Canyon Skywalk, the glass bridge that lets you walk some 70 feet over the edge until your are standing 4,000 over the bottom.
South Rim
This rim is more than 250 miles from Las Vegas, which is out of range of helicopters. Thus if Vegas travelers want to visit the South Rim, it's recommended that an airplane tour be booked. Flight time to the rim is 60 minutes, which is quite extraordinary considering it takes a bus or rental car 5.5 hours.
This Vegas airplane tour comes with multiple options, including a coach tour inside the National Park, a helicopter ride that goes from South Rim to North Rim and back and a Jeep 4x4 tour that winds its way for 2 hours past the Park's most famous lookouts and landmarks.
The South Rim helicopter tour that's on special is the basic 30-minute flight. It goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back via the Dragoon Corridor, the widest and deepest section of the Canyon. Of course, there's a deluxe version of this tour, too, which is done aboard an EcoStar 130.
The ultimate tour, however, is the 50-minute flight, which does what the 30-minute flight does plus everything up to the Park's eastern border. Once completed, travelers will have seen up to 75 percent of the National Park. A deluxe version of this tour is offered as well.
