MADISON, WI, August 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Douglas Stewart Company announces the retirement of Cheryl Rosen Weston as its President and CEO succeeded by Chuck Hulan, the Chief Operating Officer at Douglas Stewart since 2008. Weston's career at the successful distributor of consumer electronics, technology products and school supplies to the education market has spanned thirty years with the last fifteen serving as CEO. "I am proud of what we accomplished during a time of rapid change in the technology, retail, and education markets. We have built a strong business currently providing more than 100 jobs that support many families in the Madison and surrounding communities, as well as elsewhere in the US and Europe. For 65 years, The Douglas Stewart Company has adapted as the needs of its partners changed and I have confidence in the new leadership team to move the company forward building on this tradition of success." Weston is only slowing down a little as she will continue her role as a full-time Senior Instructional Staff Member at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
New Chief Executive Officer, Chuck Hulan declared, "On behalf of the entire Douglas Stewart team, I would like to thank Cheryl for her leadership and steadfast commitment to the company. We will continue to recognize the principles she emphasized of providing a workplace that values its employees, a business that values its partners, and a company that recognizes its responsibility to the community."
Hulan's transition to CEO is effective immediately. "I am thankful for the opportunity and very proud to be leading Douglas Stewart going forward. I am excited about the opportunities in front of us as we have a great executive team in place guiding the company to reach our objectives through helping our partners to achieve their goals in the education market. The proliferation of mobile computing devices on campus and at school, coupled with the evolution of curriculum from physical print to digital experiences is changing the face of education. There has never been a better time for our on-campus retailers and value-added resellers to help connect their customers with the right products and solutions and The Douglas Stewart Company is well positioned to provide these by offering suppliers access to this dynamic, growing market."
Senior leader, Robert Bernier, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer from his role as VP of Operations & Product Management. Bernier has been with Douglas Stewart for three years playing a major role in improving Douglas Stewart's core distribution services to an unprecedented level of efficiency and productivity. "Since the Montreal Canadiens already run pretty deep in defense, I am happy to be taking on my second dream job as COO to help the Douglas Stewart team continue its focus on customer-relevant goals for our business as we look to ever increase efficiency, broaden our offerings, grow our profitability, and continue to add compelling value to all of our relationships."
Completing the executive team, Peter Collins has been hired as the company's Chief Financial Officer to leverage his extensive financial and operational skills. Collins had been with the company for 7 months in a consultative capacity previously serving as CFO of Universal AET, Inc. of Stoughton, WI. "I believe the finance and administrative functions play a major role in enabling our partners to be successful and I intend to make that a key differentiator for The Douglas Stewart Company," says Collins.
