/24-7PressRelease/ - LARCHMONT, NY, February 20, 2008 - The Clarke Auction Gallery of Larchmont, now in its 10th year, today announces that it will now evaluate personal property for auction consignment or immediate purchase every Wednesday afternoon until 5:00 pm.
Walk-In Wednesdays
The Clarke team will offer a free verbal opinion of auction value for oil paintings, watercolors, and sculpture; furniture; decorative arts; sterling silver, crystal, china and porcelain; Judaica; Oriental carpets and unique items. Fine Art and Mid-Century Modern Design pieces are especially desirable in today's market.
Walk-In Wows?
One walk-in brought in an 'unsigned' painting that Clarke identified as a rare c.1890 work by a student of Thomas Eakins, which then sold for a record $9000. Another walk-in carried in a large and unwanted piece of glass which was identified as a signed piece of modern Italian sculpture, then sold for $1900. A suite of shabby chic furniture, passed by Manhattan's auction houses, was identified by Clarke as 18th-early 19th Century Venetian examples and sold for $70,000. A 50's chair and ottoman was correctly attributed to master designer Kagan and netted the consignor $11,000.
Please note a limit of three items per person for Walk-in Wednesdays and photographs are also acceptable.
Walk-Ins welcomed every Wednesday afternoon or contact the gallery with questions or to make an appointment at 914-833-8336, email [email protected], or visit www.ccauctiongallery.com
