LOS ANGELES, CA, September 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nothing like getting a jump on your career by reaching deep into the heart of the industry.
And when that industry is fashion, what better way to get an up-close-and-personal look by hitting three of the continent's most influential venues? That, in a nutshell, describes Woodbury University's 2015 European Fashion Intensive Study Tour, a 10-day field trip by the Fashion Marketing program in the School of Business. Joining the entourage were a Graphic Design student and a Filmmaking undergrad.
The trip -- also known as the "Fashion Exploration" -- included special tours and visits to the top Europe-based headquarters, including Burberry, ASOS, NET-A-Porter and Editd. The group also met with the Worth Global Style Network (WGSN) retail team, the group with which Wendy Bendoni, Chair of the Fashion Marketing program, worked prior to joining the university. The itinerary took in such exceptional destinations as "Savage Beauty," the McQueen exhibit at the V&A in London (http://business.woodbury.edu/woodbury-fashion-marketing-students-visit-london-paris-meet-top-fashion-houses/).
Company visits proved to be eye-opening. As one student observed, "it was such a fabulous opportunity for all of us to be able to connect and learn from these fashion industry leaders. At Editd headquarters, I was astounded by the technology platform. Similarly, after a quick tour of Burberry's flagship store, we met with the marketing team. The scope of the behind-the-scenes info on their heritage, brand and culture they were willing to share with us was remarkable."
"This year's Intensive Study Tour fully lived up to its name," Bendoni said. "There's no substitute for these kinds of hands-on experiences. They reinforce and extend our curriculum, and they can be career-shaping. Every participating student returned home with a better sense of the dynamics and the diversity of the fashion world."
