LAS VEGAS, NV, September 26, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- De Castroverde Law Group is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 scholarship awards. Scholarships of $1500 are awarded to veterans of the U.S. armed forces to assist them in funding their higher education. This year's winners were selected from almost 50 applicants; both are veterans currently attending a college or university in the United States.
The first recipient is Curtis Butler, who is attending Truckee Meadows Community College. Presently living in Reno, NV, Butler has served in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan and is highly decorated. The second winner is Stacey Carver, currently attending the University of Phoenix where she is working towards her BA. Carver resides in Terrell, NC and served in the U.S. Air Force, supporting Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where she received the National Defense Service Medal.
Scholarship applicants are requested to submit a short essay explaining their reasons for joining the military, the way in which their service has changed their lives, and their plans following graduation.
"If there is one thing I have taken away from my term in the service, it is that helping and serving others is the most important thing I could ever do in my career," writes Butler.
"I grew personally and professionally during my enlistment, as [my grandfather] knew I would," writes Carver. "With my degree, I intend to teach English and instill my love of our language in youth in underprivileged regions of the United States."
