A festive celebration and powerful declaration. The song is an anthem for those who seek to claim what's theirs by any means necessary, especially if what they desire is their soul. - Chen Lo
NEW YORK, NY, October 01, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Soul Science Lab drops the first single from their debut album, Plan for Paradise, "Gimme Dat", on September 30th, 2015.
Music production house duo, Chen Lo and Asante Amin of Soul Science Lab, seamlessly weave the rich textures of raw Hip-Hop, Afro-beat, Soul and second line Jazz in "Gimme Dat." As protest art, the song is a rallying cry to take back Black culture that's been misplaced, lost and stolen. The track, produced by composer and multi-instrumentalist Asante Amin, also includes vocal stylings by dancer and Beyonce's "Grown Woman" feature singer, Ismael Kouyate. The forthcoming "Gimme Dat" cinematographic visual was filmed in Accra, Ghana and Brooklyn, NY and will release in August 2016.
LISTEN: "Gimme Dat" can be streamed on Soundcloud on the Soul Science Lab channel here: https://soundcloud.com/soulsciencelab/gimmedat. The single will be available for FREE download through October 7, 2015. Following the free download trial period, the song will also be available for purchase on iTunes.
With elements of live music and digital production, "Gimme Dat" lyricist Chen Lo describes the song as "a festive celebration and powerful declaration. The song is an anthem for those who seek to claim what's theirs by any means necessary, especially if what they desire is their soul."
Artwork for the "Gimme Dat" single was designed by Sally Tsai. Soul Science Lab's debut album, Plan for Paradise, is set to release in January 2016.
Most recently, music from Chen Lo's solo album Footprints scored the season finale of popular Black & Sexy TV web series "Chef Julian" and music from Asante Amin's The Visitor: Alter Destiny tracks have recently scored episodes of "RommieLoverFriends" and "Sexless," now airing on BET Networks.
Soul Science Lab is best known for Soundtrack '63, a live music and 3-screen multi-media millennial retrospective of the major events of the Civil Rights Movement and other significant moments in history that have defined much of contemporary America. The production takes the audience on a compelling journey from the continent to milestone events in African-American history, that connects generations with the richness of the African-American experience through Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk and the images of the time. The duo will present Soundtrack '63 in partnership with Junebug Productions and the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, Louisiana in January 2016.
