PHOENIX, AZ, October 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hastings & Hastings would like to see distracted driving accidents disappear entirely. To such an end, Hastings & Hastings calls upon Arizona drivers to remain focused and avoid distraction.

Distracted driving may have a number of root causes. A leading contributor to distracted driving is the cellphone. Hastings & Hastings advises all drivers to put their cellphones away when they get behind the wheel of a car.

Cellphones offer a litany of potential distractions. Text messages lead such a list. On average, a driver looking at a text message spends approximately 5 seconds with their eyes on their cellphone screen, rather than on the road. A car could travel three times the distance of a football field in such a brief period of time. Those five seconds could be deadly. Hastings & Hastings warns individuals about the dangers of texting and driving. Individuals should always keep their eye on the road.

Cellphones offer further distractions to drivers. Surveys show that many drivers find it difficult to avoid looking at popular applications such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, even while they are on the road. Some drivers have even admitted to watching YouTube videos while behind the wheel of a car. All of these potential distractions could prove deadly. It is essential that drivers remain focused on the road at all times, and think of safety first.

Drivers who struggle staying focused also site food and beverages as a possible source of distraction. Hastings & Hastings encourages drivers to avoid eating and drinking while in the car. It takes weeks to die of starvation, drivers should find time before or after their commute to consume food.

Hastings & Hastings believes that the best way to keep drivers focused, is to educate them about the dangers of distracted driving. No one wants to be involved in an accident. Distracted driving collisions are among the most avoidable. All drivers need to do to keep themselves from become a traffic statistic, is to keep their eye on the road, and stay focused on the potential dangerous associated with driving.
