Spiritual Thought-Leader Examines Crossover Relationships Between Faith and Business Startups

Twenty-five years ago, Ken Howard left a successful career in non-profit startups, corporate rightsizing and strategic leadership to become an ordained leader in the Episcopal Church.

NEW YORK, NY, October 15, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Rev. Ken Howard, author, speaker, extrapreneurial faith leader and church futurist, will feature at the Lean Startup Conference 2015 in San Francisco, November 18. The longtime Episcopal Church pastor (with a background in business) will curate an expert-panel discussion titled, "Borderlines: Exploring the Fertile Boundaries Between Faith and Business."

Among the questions the panel will consider:

- Do business entrepreneurs employ faith?
- Can faith leaders be entrepreneurial?
- How are faith-based startups and business startups alike? How are they different?
- What practical lessons can each learn from the other?

The Rev. Ken Howard is the founder and executive pastor of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in the Washington, DC, suburbs, and the founder of FaithX.net, a network dedicated to equipping faith-based communities and organizations with tools to survive and thrive in contexts characterized by exponential change and escalating uncertainty.

Howard will be joined on the panel by fellow leaders in the field of extrapreneurial, faith-based endeavor:

Spencer Burke, the founder and executive director of Hatchery LA, a residential church incubator that gathers together individuals who want to become social transformation entrepreneurs and invest in a local community for multiple years by launching sustainable "Common Cause Communities"; and

Toby Rubin, the Founder and CEO of UpStart Bay Area, an organization committed to creating a "Jewish Silicon Valley" that will serve as an engine for innovative ideas that contribute to the continued growth and vitality of Jewish life by serving as an infrastructure for incubating, launching, and nurturing these ideas in emerging and existing communities, organizations, and companies.

Brief audiovisual presentations will be followed by interactive discussion as presenters discuss questions fielded and framed by the curator from those submitted by participants in the room and remotely through twitter.
