NEW YORK, NY, October 21, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Community Financial Service Centers (CFSC) of New York is a proud sponsor of the 2015 Pelham Fritz Basketball League (PFBL) Scholarship Fund, a spectacular social welfare initiative supporting the youth of Harlem, NY. PFBL is the premier pro basketball league in Harlem for adults ages 38 and up, and allows members to stay in the game while providing guidance and mentorship to local youth.
"This is an excellent program for the youth of Harlem," said CFSC of NY and NJ President Tom Musial. "PFBL helps keep kids off the streets by putting them in touch with educators, entrepreneurs, and various types of professionals they can learn from and look up to."
The PFBL mentoring program teaches basketball, sports leadership skills, and NBA regulations to kids, and gives them hands-on job experience. The organization offers 26 educational scholarships to college-bound seniors involved with the program. According to ThePFBL.org, more than $34,500 in scholarship funds have been rewarded to New York City's high school graduates through the scholarship to date.
"Community Financial is honored to help these dedicated kids focus more on education and less on the associated costs," explained Musial. "Textbooks and school supplies are expensive, and a $500 PFBL scholarship can be a great relief to a student on a budget."
