OXNARD, CA, October 31, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme announces the addition of Derek Swafford, a vice president at Union Bank in Ventura, to its board of directors.
"Derek has strong ties to our community and brings a wealth of banking knowledge with him to our board," said Erin Antrim, chief executive officer, BGCOP. "We are very excited to work with him."
A native of Ventura, Swafford graduated from Ventura High School and was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates to play minor league baseball. After five years of baseball, Swafford decided to attend the Haas School of Business at the University California, Berkley, where he received a degree in business management while playing Football. He worked for Wells Fargo for 10 years, before returning to Ventura and taking his current position at Union Bank.
Swafford has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Junior Achievements, and has served on the board of directors for the City of Fremont's Chamber.
