Ms. Brinkley holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis. Advancing her education, Laura Brinkley also holds an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certification and an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Ms. Brinkley held several RN positions in area hospitals, beginning her career at the Jarman Hospital in Tuscola, Illinois. Two years later, when offered a position as Manager of the Gyn Unit of McKinley Health Center at the University of Illinois, Ms. Brinkley accepted, remaining for 10 years. Ms. Brinkley then moved to the Carle Clinic Association in Urbana, Illinois as a Nurse Practitioner, in many departments doing a variety of jobs and finally settling in Orthopaedics for 28 years. After retiring from Carle and as a member of the faculty in the medical school at the University of Illinois, she worked one year as a nurse practitioner for Matrix Medical seeing Medicare Advantage patients in their homes.

In her current position at Gibson Area Hospital Orthopaedics, Ms. Brinkley is the Director of Services for the orthopedic, cardiology and sports medicine physician assistant as well as the Mahomet Clinic in Mahomet, Illinois, responsible for supporting the medical professionals who provide these services. Because of her efficient ability to multitask and her comprehensive grasp of the inner workings of the office, Ms. Brinkley is able to flawlessly oversee the flow of the office. On a daily basis, Ms. Brinkley is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the office including: program management, patient safety, scheduling, staff training, student nurse and advanced practice nurses mentoring, inpatient management for office flow with the clinic, and the flow of surgeries throughout the facility.

Keeping current with the latest advances in healthcare and the managerial field, Laura Brinkley maintains her affiliations with the National Association of Healthcare Providers, the National Association of Professional Women, the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses and the Illinois Society for Advanced Nurses.

Ms. Brinkley is charitable towards several organizations including St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the National Army Rangers Association and the Hope House.

From a young girl hearing the story of Florence Nightingale to the strong talented medical professional she is today, Laura Brinkley is highly respected for her knowledge, organizational skills, compassion and professionalism.

Outside of work, Ms. Brinkley loves her granddaughter and family, and enjoys spending time writing, reading, traveling, gardening and knitting.
