PHOENIX, AZ, November 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The vehicles of today are statistically hundreds of times safer than the vehicles of just twenty years ago. Today, cars are built with driver, passenger, and side airbags. They are built with frames which are designed to crumple, thus reducing the violence of collisions. In 2015, a number of new safety features are going to debut. Hastings & Hastings is excited to see these new safety features and hopes they go a long way towards saving lives.
Cruise control has long been a rather standard car feature. It makes highway driving easy and even increases fuel efficiency. Cruise control also helps to reduce driver fatigue, which is a leading cause of highway accidents. Appearing in many 2015 vehicles, is adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control makes use of laser and radar sensor systems to regulate the speed of the vehicle. If a car with adaptive cruise control is approach a vehicle at too a high speed, they system will automatically reduce the speed of the car without the need of input from the drive.
Laser and radar technology isn't just being use for adaptive cruise control. It is also being paired with cameras to create automatic breaking systems. Newer cars will be able to sense when an object is too close in front of them, and will be able to act accordingly. First, drivers will be alerted to the hazardous situation. If drivers fail to respond, the automatic breaking system will be able to slow the car down on its own.
Camera and laser systems are not just good for slowing down and stopping. Lane departure warning technology uses wide angle cameras and midrange radars to detect when a driver is slowly drifting out of their lane. If a drift is occurring, chimes, flashing lights, or vibrations will alter the driver to the situation.
Similar to lane departure technology is blind-spot alter technology. These same radars and cameras can detect if a car is in a drivers blind spot, and will provide a warning against switching lanes.
"It is so exciting to see all of these incredible new safety features. I think they are going to really help reduce the frequency of accidents. However, we can never forget about t the human element when it comes do driving. The best way to stay out of an accident is to drive carefully, and keep your eye on the road," said David Hastings, the founder of Hastings & Hastings.
