Students at the Whitworth School Exceed Expectations with the Early Reading Program

    ORANGE, CA, November 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Understanding that reading is one of the pillars of every student's education, the Whitworth School has found continued success with its Early Reading Program. The program is a system for teaching students from ages 3 to 5 years old how to learn to start reading. Children as young as three years old start by simply recognizing letters and the sounds they correspond to. As they progress through the program, they move on to reading dozens of short, fun books by the time they start kindergarten.

As they move up through the later stages of the program, Whitworth School students will eventually reach the point where they are reading hundreds of books a year. At the Whitworth School, students improve their ability to read through a high quantity of reading. Most schools have students focus on very closely reading a smaller quantity of books, but the Whitworth School has found this slows the speed at which students learn.

Another important facet to reading so many books is children start to learn other academic subjects from the stories they are reading. For example, reading easy books about volcanoes can help young children start to learn about Earth science. This approach combines several types of learning into one fun activity.

She was able to start learning how to read with the Early Reading Program almost instantly. She just turned six at the end of September and she's reading at a 3rd grade reading level!"
