Throughout his long-lasting career, Mr. Touhey has tried in civil and criminal cases in every county in the state of Maryland as well as in Washington, DC. Before going into private practice full-time, he worked as the assistant state attorney for Anne Arundel County for two years, then as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland for two years, then served as legislative counsel to the governor of Maryland for an additional two years. His career also includes serving as a district public defender for Anne Arundel County for 10 years. In looking back, Mr. Touhey became involved in his profession after starting out as an English major. After joining the U.S. Army, he decided to change directions in his career. He decided to go to law school because it provided him with the opportunity to earn an advanced degree. Additionally, he was inspired by his godfather, who was a people's court judge.
Mr. Touhey received his JD from the University of Maryland. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliations with the Maryland State Bar Association, the Anne Arundel County Bar Association and the Maryland Association for Justice, Inc. Recognized for his work, he has received the Client Distinction Award and has been ranked among the top attorneys in the Baltimore area and Washington, DC, also by Martindale-Hubbell. In the coming years, Mr. Touhey hopes to continue practicing law to the best of his ability.
