This delightful new book unleashes the magic of Christmas in a contemporary fashion that is sure to delight both young and old alike. -Rev. K. Freeman
CALGARY, AB, November 10, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For many years CP Rail has joined Kansas City Southern and other railroads in running brightly decorated holiday trains through destinations they serve for the sole purpose of collecting for charity. Volunteer-run, these wonderful holiday traditions are impressive sights to behold and draw a significant response from the communities they serve. It is that same spirit of community and giving that author Neil Enock has woven into the world of Doc Christmas.
"Holiday trains are something I took my kids to see when they were younger and I wanted to try and capture some of the magic I saw in their eyes. Without giving away any spoilers, I think you may be surprised at how elegantly 'Nick' is able to transform a train, any train, into a magical holiday train."
Doc Christmas is a modern story, where holiday deliveries are handled through the world's railways and model trains and where high-tech elves have some futuristic devices I'm sure Apple would love to get their hands on.
A few years ago, Doc' s wife unexpectedly passed away. Since that time, he has shut out his family and friends and pushed away everything in his life except his work. There, his single-minded focus has turned him into one of the world's leading experts in combating rare infectious diseases. This fact becomes very important to Nick when an epidemic races through the elven population of the North Pole and brings holiday preparations to a stand still.
The book is Doc's journey as Nick goes undercover and works alongside Doc's family, attempting to get him to reconnect with his life, his family and his friends. Nick needs Doc to once again believe in Christmas and ultimately to believe in magic. He'll need that magic to get himself to be about 5/8 of an inch tall. If he can do that, he'll be the height of an elf and may just be able to save them!
While Doc may have the medical knowledge to help the elves, he must also deal with the magic and wonders of the hidden world that is the North Pole. He is eventually able to help the elves but then finds he must go even further, rallying his restored friends and family in an effort to save Christmas itself. You'll need to read the book to discover the real reason there is a train around the Christmas tree and how Doc earned himself the nickname 'Doc Christmas'.
