Their attendance at this event has spurred Machulin Marketing to reveal their 7-step guide for effective networking.
About Machulin Marketing: http://www.machulinmarketing.com/
1. Arrive early. It may seem like common sense, but it has to be reiterated. Arriving early can provide a great advantage and help someone to settle into the environment before everyone arrives. As a first attendee, the room will be less crowded, and people won't have settled into groups. It also makes it easier to find other people who don't have conversation partners yet.
2. Make the first move. Don't hang back in the shadows, be pro-active and be the first person to approach people and start conversations.
3. Ditch the sales pitch. Don't go straight into the hard sell, keep the conversation light and informal. The key is to get the conversation started and to build relationships before jumping into business proposals.
4. Be enthusiastic. People are won over by someone who exhibits genuine passion and enthusiasm for what they do. This doesn't have to be about business, it can be something someone enjoys in their personal life. Someone talking about what they enjoy can be contagious and can make a great two way conversation.
5. Smile. People who smile come across as friendly and approachable. Smiling can help put someone's nerves at ease and make others want to talk to them.
6. Don't dominate the conversation. For a solid networking link to be established it's vital for the conversation to go both ways, one person shouldn't dominate it. The most successful networkers are good at making other people feel special. They look people in the eye, repeat their name often and listen to what they have to say.
7. Follow up. A good conversation at a networking event is just the beginning. To carry on that relationship afterwards make sure to ask the best way to stay in touch and contact them within a few days to keep the relationship going.
