The event, sponsored by Creighton University and called "Medical and Dental Aspects of Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Primary Care Perspective," is designed for a wide range of doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare providers. The goal is to help primary healthcare providers understand the importance of sleep apnea so they can help patients get appropriate treatment early.
Dr. Roubal's presentation is called "Overview of Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Dental Perspective." It will cover a number of important topics on sleep apnea, including:
- Prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
- Signs and symptoms of OSA
- Diseases associated with OSA
- Risks of untreated sleep apnea
- Dental treatment options, including oral appliances, combination therapy, and Tap Pap
- Advantages of nonsurgical OSA treatments
Dr. Roubal will also participate in a Q&A session at the end of the day, just prior to evaluation of participants for their continuing education credits.
