Women of Distinction Selects Linda McKinnis as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    TROY, NY, November 14, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda McKinnis, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 38 Claims Service Officer and NYS Outreach Peer to Peer Veteran Officer, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Linda McKinnis will be featured in the upcoming edition in 2015/2016.

Using her compassion and empathy in order to give back, Linda McKinnis serves as a constant role model and leader within her community. The DAV Claims Service Officer and NYS Outreach Peer to Peer Veteran Officer assists veterans with an array of resources and outreach services, provides disability claim services to veterans, and helps veterans better understand the laws, information, and benefits they are entitled to for a better quality of life.

"I like to think of myself as a motivator and positive leader. When I was broken, lost, and confused, there were other veterans that assisted me to help me pick up the pieces of my life. They never gave up on me and always saw true potential. So with all honor and respect to God and to all the veterans that pushed me forward in my life, it is now my turn to return the favor; no veteran leaves another veteran behind," Ms. McKinnis said, who believes that God is always keeping an eye on her, and even though she may not know plan, He has a purpose for her life.

Ms. McKinnis received numerous awards and medals during her time in the military, during which time she served a tour in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. She was named Woman of Outstanding Leadership by The International Women's Leadership Association and received the Presidential Leadership Award from DeVry University. She's also had poetry published in Veterans Voices Magazine and is a self-published author.
