The Workplace Pension Consultancy Ltd Comments on the Department of Work and Pension's New 'Workie' Campaign

    ESSEX, ENGLAND, November 15, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Introduced onto our screens on 21st October, Workie, the giant furry creature with horns and huge eyes, is the new face of the Workplace Pensions initiative from the UK's Department of Work and Pensions.

The multi-million pound advert delivers two important messages: firstly, that all employees must be aware of their entitlement to a workplace pension; and secondly, that employers must understand their new legal responsibilities and take steps to offer compliant provisions for their staff.

Since 2011's reforms, more than 5.4 million workers have been automatically enrolled into a workplace pension. By 2018, when the process has been completed, over nine million workers will be involved a workplace pension scheme.

Those involved in the campaign have labelled Workie as a 'striking physical embodiment of the workplace pension.'

Some analysts are on board with the concept, viewing the campaign as fun and informative, but it has been met with criticism by many who believe the 8.45 million price tag on the 40 second advert was unnecessary, and have branded the recent promotional effort to be a complete waste of public funds.
