BOSTON, MA, November 17, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Multicultural Children's Book Day (MCCBD), which since 2014 has fostered tremendous online support for diversity awareness, is celebrated each January as a nationwide youth reading initiative. In less than two years, it's achieved more than 26 million social media shares, and is supported by 200+ book bloggers, 9 CoHosts, and 17 prominent corporate sponsors. This year, MCCBD will be celebrated January 27th, 2016 and will focus on putting multicultural books on classroom and library shelves and also into the hands of deserving families through book donations. As a new incentive to schools, the Junior Library Guild has signed as a major sponsor of MCCBD and they've launched the joint Classroom Diversity Reading Challenge.

The new initiative will encourage teachers who sign up for the free-of-charge diversity challenge to encourage their class to read up to four multicultural books in their classroom to earn a free multicultural book, which will be provided thanks to the generous donation and partnership from the Junior Library Guild. All books are pre-screened and approved by the Junior Library Guild, to insure each free book for the classroom is a pre-screened, library-quality book that maps to Common Core.
