LEBANON, IL, November 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- McKendree University was recently approved as a SARA (State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements) institution with the State of Illinois. This participation is on a local level of a nationwide initiative called NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements).
SARA makes it easier for states to regulate interstate distance education, and it also eliminates approval costs for colleges and universities that often are passed to students.
Membership to SARA, which was opened in January 2014, is voluntary, and states may choose to join SARA through the regional compact to which they belong. As of October 2015, 34 states are participating members of SARA.
Students who reside within a state that is a member of SARA will experience several benefits including a greater access to educational offerings, enhanced overall quality of distance learning, and more.
"By participating in SARA, McKendree will now be able to admit students to the online programs from any state that is recognized as a SARA state," said Dr. Christine Bahr, Provost and Dean of McKendree University. "We feel that this will place a hearty plethora of educational options at the fingertips of our students, especially those who are place-bound and must manage courses with employment and family responsibilities."
McKendree's online BBA is offered with the option of six majors: accounting, business administration, human resource management, management, marketing, and sports management. These classes are geared toward those who want to further their education and earn their bachelor's degrees. The online MBA is available for students holding a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution seeking a challenging educational experience in a stimulating and friendly environment. In addition, McKendree offers an online RN to BSN program, an MSN for educators, administrators, and palliative care, and a Master of Arts in Education - Higher Education Administrative Services program.
Established in 1828, McKendree University is the oldest college in Illinois. McKendree is dedicated to providing its students with a high quality educational experience by encouraging a broader vision, an enriched purpose, engagement with the community at large, and openness to new ideas. The university instills in its students a passion and dedication to lifelong learning in an atmosphere of open dialogue, free inquiry, and mutual respect.
