Helena Martin has been Named a Professional of the Year in Psychology

    EUROBODALLA SHIRE, AUSTRALIA, November 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helena Martin has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Psychology. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only small selections of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Ms. Martin has been instrumental in the trauma related field for the past 25 years and started her own practise in the Canberra/Queanbeyan region, providing therapeutic interventions to both adults and children who suffered traumatic events, including a spectrum of other services including anxiety, depression and stress. She received extensive training through the Educational Centre Against Violence in New South Wales, to provide therapeutic intervention to children who experience physical and sexual abuse and neglect and is proficient at forensic report writing. Since 2008, Ms. Martin, in conjunction with her partner, has been providing child-informed mediation for separating parents assisting them through this difficult period in finding the best way forward to parent their children.

Passionate about the work she does, Ms. Martin maintains a successful practice by pulling from her diverse cultural and personal background. Having lived in South Africa during a time of great social injustice was instrumental in the direction her professional life took. Her experience of living in a culturally diverse country and witnessing violence and injustice, has provided her with a capacity to work with a spectrum of client groups in Australia where she has lived since early adulthood. It is through her passion to ensure that all her clients receive equal treatment and to advocate for them where necessary that she fills a unique niche within the psychology field.

Ms. Martin has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University in which she double majored in Psychology in 1996. She received a Master of Psychology from Monash University in 2007 and her thesis focused on brainplasticity and trauma in children 0-3 years. In 1999 she completed a postgraduate degree in Community Counseling. She is registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, is a full member of the Australian Psychology Society and an affiliated member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement, as well as the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health Inc., the Southern General Practice Network and SARRAH (Allied Rural Health). Further, she was honored with an induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society for outstanding academic achievement, an honour that is bestowed only to the top 4% of a discipline internationally.
