OAK BROOK, IL, November 19, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Software development company michaels, ross & cole, ltd. (mrc) and Melitta USA recently teamed up to extend Melitta's ERP system with custom, self-service reporting. Headquartered in Germany, Melitta is a global manufacturer and distributor of coffee, coffee filters, and non-electric coffee systems. mrc is a global software development and consulting company specializing in web application development software.
Stuck with an aging BI tool, Melitta faced a reporting problem. "We were finding that our report creation process for our business users was very cumbersome," explains Chris Paul, IS Manager at Melitta USA. As a result, they began searching for:
- A modern BI tool that integrates with their Friedman Frontier ERP System and IBM Power Systems Database
Melitta needed to upgrade their database operating system, but their current BI tool wasn't compatible with the new version. Melitta needed to either upgrade their BI software, or replace it altogether.
- Ways to address their reporting backlog
With their old reporting process, Melitta's IT department faced a backlog of reporting requests from end users. They wanted to simplify the reporting process, and deliver data to their users when they need it.
To address these needs, Melitta teamed up with software developer, mrc. In a recent joint webinar, Melitta explained how mrc's development platform, m-Power, helped them:
• Deliver self-service reporting to end users
Melitta delivered web-based reporting and pivot table applications to their users. These applications eliminate the reporting backlog, and let users analyze any aspect of their data on-demand.
• Augment their Friedman Frontier ERP system without changing it
Melitta created custom applications that integrated with their Friedman Frontier ERP system--without modifying the underlying system. This was an important feature for Melitta, as it means that m-Power won't lock them into their current ERP version.
• Provide external access to reports via a secure portal
Melitta created a company-wide, secure portal that ties into their ERP system. This gives employees a centralized location to login and access their reports from anywhere.
"We now have a tool that enables us to extend out to our user base," says Paul. "And, as long as they're willing to learn, And with some training and initial mentoring we can teach them to our users are able to develop reports on their own."
