DESTIN, FL, December 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Destin Plastic Surgery (www.theplasticdoc.com), a practice that's introduced groundbreaking plastic surgery techniques to patients from Pensacola to Panama City, Florida, and beyond, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
"When I started the practice in 1995, I aspired to provide unique, high-quality care to the people of the area and beyond," says Dr. William Burden, a board-certified plastic surgeon who established Destin Plastic Surgery. "Within months of arriving in Destin, I had reattached a construction worker's finger, used advanced microsurgical techniques in a breast reconstruction case, performed several endoscopic brow lifts and introduced 'No Scar on the Breast' breast augmentation to the region."
Innovation has become a hallmark of Destin Plastic Surgery, and Dr. Burden's advanced skills in reconstructive and cosmetic breast and facial surgery -- honed under mentors at the University of Florida and Louisiana State University -- quickly became known throughout the Southeast's community of plastic surgeons.
Tapping into his experience as a computer software developer and systems analyst prior to becoming a plastic surgeon, Dr. Burden aimed to create a high-tech practice from the ground up.
"My goal was to have not only an excellent medical and office staff, but to also have a superior facility that people enjoyed," Dr. Burden says. "I installed one of the first digital imaging systems that allowed simulations. The patients were very pleased with the improved communication at their consultations and left with a better understanding of what was possible."
Dr. Burden says his close-knit team is equally responsible for the success of the practice, including his wife, Pam, who was instrumental in establishing The Anti-Aging Skincare Clinic. He says she traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona, to witness firsthand the innovative technique of combining light chemical peels with cryotherapy to incorporate it at Destin's skin care clinic. He says it's now the most requested service.
In March 2002, Destin Plastic Surgery moved into its current 20,500-square-foot facility, which houses their non-surgical skincare clinic, The Destin Vein Center, and Destin Surgery Center. A year later, Dr. L. Scott Ennis joined the surgical staff following his plastic surgery fellowship training at the University of Virginia. Dr. Burden says Dr. Ennis has added to the success of the practice in the past 12 years, specializing in breast surgery and body contouring procedures such as power-assisted liposuction.
"We have patients visiting us from Tallahassee, neighboring states, and even around the world. Word-of-mouth has helped the practice grow and we are thankful to the patients, doctors, and nurses who recommend friends, family members and others to us," Dr. Burden says. "My hope is that we will continue to build upon our foundation of innovation and continue to deliver high-quality services to our patients and clientele for the next 20 years."
