Delphi Academy of Boston Students Raise Money for Local Animal Shelter

Students at the Delphi Academy of Boston sold used books in order to raise money to help animals in their community. The students learned how much they could accomplish when working together to help others.

MILTON, MA, December 22, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- All the students at Delphi Academy of Boston will tell you how much they love animals, so it was an easy choice to decide to do something about the many local pets which don't have a home to call their own. It was for this reason Delphi Boston students recently held a fundraiser to benefit the Milton Animal League.

Students and their families banded together to collect gently-used books from around the community. They sold paperback books for fifty cents and hardback books for a dollar. Since each book sold only earned a little money, the students immediately understood they would have to work hard to sell as many books as possible to help the animals in need.

The students were amazed at what they had achieved when they finally tallied up the money and found they had made a total of $258! This money was donated to the grateful Milton Animal League who commended the students for their help to the community.

Remarkably, the whole fundraiser was run by Delphi Boston's Elementary School Student Council, including students Amelia Zai, Shaylan Chawda, Imani Joseph-Lacet, Lily Campbell, Taylor Mendes and Girish Raghunathan. These students took the lead in helping their local animals with only minimal help from adult leaders.

Students that participated in the fundraiser explained it was a fulfilling way for them to help the animals they love so much. Activities like this are one of the vital ways Delphi Boston teaches students to have compassion for others (even animals) and to give back to their communities.
