"Tom writes, plays, sings and produces all the while keeping the sessions humming, tunes popping and making great things happen. He's the best producer I've ever met in my life!"
NEW YORK, NY, December 10, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Buddy Guy's Born to Play Guitar has just been nominated for both Blues Album of the Year and Best Americana Roots Performance alongside Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, The Punch Brothers and the legendary Miss Mavis Staples. The 58th Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles.
Born To Play Guitar (RCA Records/Silvertone Records) is the fifth collaboration between Guy and Hambridge, whose work together began in 2008 with Buddy's highest charting and Grammy-nominated record, Skin Deep, and was followed by the Grammy-winning Living Proof. The new critically-acclaimed record features twelve songs written by Hambridge (or co-written by Hambridge and Guy) that feature guest appearances by Van Morrison, Joss Stone, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and blues singer Kim Wilson.
Hambridge is, once again, both humbled and flattered by these nominations. Being no stranger to the Grammy process however, does not detract from the honor of the nomination. To the contrary, Hambridge says: "I make each new record as if there were none before them - they're produced to be fresh and relevant and stand the test of time on their own merit."
Of Hambridge, Guy has often been quoted singing his praises as a collaborator and producer. "Tom writes, plays, sings and produces all the while keeping the sessions humming, tunes popping and making great things happen. He's the best producer I've ever met in my life!"
I got six strings loaded
On my bad machine
Show me the money
And I'll make this damn thing scream
I'm gonna keep on playing
And on my dying day
A polka-dot guitar will be resting on my grave
