Hastings & Hastings Cautions New Year's Eve Commuters

New Year's Eve is just days away which means one thing, parties are about to kick off. December 31st is the biggest party day on the calendar.

PHOENIX, AZ, December 31, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hastings & Hastings appreciates a good time just as much as anyone, however, with great parties come great responsibility. With that in mind, Hastings & Hastings cautions New Year's Eve commuters, while encouraging everyone to have fun and stay safe.

With parties covering nearly every square inch of the Valley of the Sun on the evening on December 31st, there is going to be a large amount of adult alcohol consumption occurring. It is the right of every adult over the age of 21 to enjoy an alcoholic beverage, especially as they ring in the New Year, however, drinking must be done responsibly.

Individuals must never drink and drive. It is one of the most dangerous things anyone can do. Hastings & Hastings has represented thousands of accident victims over the course of its 30 years practicing law in the valley, and many of these accidents have been caused by drivers who were intoxicated. Not only does drunk driving cost lives, individuals who are caught will face punitive legal measures.

Hastings & Hastings calls on everyone to drink responsibly, not just on New Year's Eve, but always. If individuals know they are going to be consuming alcohol, they should plan ahead regarding transportation. Groups of friends can elect a designated driver. If a designated driver is not available, other means of transportation can be arranged. Taxi cabs, Ubers, and Lyfts are all good options. Not only are they convenient, utilizing these services could end up saving someone's life.

Hastings & Hastings further cautions that not everyone will behave in a responsible manner on New Year's Eve. It is important for individuals to keep an eye out for drivers moving erratically on the highway. Give such vehicles a wide birth and contact the authorities. It is always better to be safe than sorry. This is a good time to practice the tenants of defensive driving.

"Unfortunately it happens every year. The authorities do everything they can to prevent them, but still, drunk driving accidents will occur on New Year's Ever. We encourage anyone who has been the victim of such an accident to contact us as quickly as possible. We will fight tirelessly to see that accident victims are protected and that they receive the compensation they deserve. On a lighter note, we really hope everyone has fun out there on New Year's Eve. But don't forget to stay safe," said David Hastings, founder of Hastings & Hastings.
