Dw. Dunphy Releases Two Free Songs Via Bandcamp.com

    RED BANK, NJ, December 16, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ending a highly productive 2015, musician Dw. Dunphy caps December with two new tracks, both made available for free via Bandcamp.com.

The first is "Neon Green Xmas," contributed to the Down The Line Collective Christmas Compilation (Or: The Bad Santa Edition). The track is available to download for FREE here: https://downthelinecollective.bandcamp.com/track/neon-green-xmas

As Dunphy explained, "It's not a 'Christmas' song so much as it is a song about becoming an adult and reconciling the childlike feelings you're expected to have at Christmas. I think that it is a universal feeling as we grow older."

Dunphy touches upon other controversial aspects of the holiday season in the song too, starting with the conscious decision to specify "Xmas" rather than "Christmas." "There's a lot of talk about taking Christ out of Christmas. Arguably you see that in the rampant consumerism and the endless horse-trading for the best deals versus trying to create happy experiences. There's also the rather uncharitable way people attack other people for statements like 'happy holidays' and such. In other words, it is our behavior and attitudes that threaten to take Christ out of Christmas far more than our rhetoric."

Dunphy's second FREE download track is the kickoff single to his forthcoming solo release The First Thing That Came To Mind. "Cut You Loose" concerns breakups, but not only of the romantic kind. It is available for free download at: https://dwdunphy.bandcamp.com/track/cut-you-loose

"Breakups come in all different varieties," Dunphy explained. "The romantic kind is significant, and has been the source for music and drama for millennia. But we also see the callousness of a company or organization firing a longtime employee just for having been so loyal for so long, or even how some finally feel connected to family members at the event of their relative's death, as opposed to when they were alive and that attention would have been so much more valuable."

Both songs send a signal for a busy 2016 for Dunphy as he preps the rest of The First Thing That Came To Mind and the inaugural release of the promotional compilation series The Co-Op Communique, via Introverse Media. "There are a lot of exciting things happening," Dunphy concluded. "We just got started in 2015. The new year is going to be full of creative activity, and I can't wait for people to see what Introverse has planned."
