Sharon Brown Honored for Excellence in Health Care

Dr. Brown brings 31 years of experience to her role as Lead Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner of Walmart Care Clinic. Throughout her career, she has set herself apart as a prominent nurse practitoner and nurse executive. She is now working for Walmart as they begin to offer a full array of primary care services. As a health care leader and executive, Dr. Brown's greatest strength is being firm, but fair. She brings an old-school approach and merges it with new advances in technology and technique to find solutions.

Looking back, Dr. Brown reflects on her motivations for entering the medical field. In school, she was a nurses' aide then known as a candy striper, and her mother was a medical assistant. From that point on, she knew that this was the career that she wanted. Dr. Brown received a doctorate from the University of Alabama Birmingham in May of 2013, and she takes particular pride in having completed this degree while working as a Nurse Executive in the United States Army.
