Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Shanta Jugroo as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    JAMAICA, NY, January 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shanta Jugroo, General Store Manager for Family Dollar, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Shanta Jugroo will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.

While working as a Pharmacy Technician from 1996 to 2000, Shanta Jugroo learned all the facets of working in retail. Helping the store manager with various tasks during her down time, she desired to better understand the industry. Going back to school to earn her Associate's Degree in Business Management in 2000, she was ready to find a career in retail management. Soon after, she found success and she has been in the industry ever since.

Now, as the General Store Manager at Family Dollar, Ms. Jugroo handles the everyday operation of the store, from payroll and scheduling of staff, to overlooking operations, shrink, merchandising, expenses, and vendor sales and credits. She also coaches, mentors, and promotes staff, and makes sure that customer service is always a priority.

"I love the daily challenges that go into being a manager in retail," Ms. Jugroo said about what inspires her. "I enjoy meeting and exceeding the various goals that must be met, such as sales and P&L. I am determined to make the impossible possible and am always willing to learn new ideas along the way."

Always willing to learn new and more effective ways to run her business, Ms. Jugroo enjoys challenging herself and striving to be better. Believing in honesty and determination to lead the way, she hopes to continue to do go work and do every task with pride and never settling for less than the best from herself.

Ms. Jugroo earned her high school diploma at The University School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in 1998 and a Certified Medical Assistant in 1999 through the Institute for Allied Medical Technology. In 2003, she earned her Associate Degree in Business Administration and Marketing through Katharine Gibbs Business School in 2003, followed by her certification in Medical Insurance and Billing through Career Vision in 2004. In 2014, she completed her Bachelor of Technical Management/Operations through DeVry College.
