Objective IT Develops Train Driver Training Database for Rail Professional Development

    ESSEX, ENGLAND, January 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rail Professional Development Limited (RPD) was established in the early 1990s by founder Paul Durrant. Having won the contract to deliver train driver competency for the high-investment project Crossrail in 2014, RPD approached Objective looking to develop a bespoke database that will build on the success of Assure CMS, RPD's flagship software, in co-ordinating and managing training resources.

The experienced team at Objective used Microsoft ASP .NET 4.5 and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to develop a database module that systemises the planning and resource allocation for Crossrail's driver training programme. The database can be used to co-ordinate and monitor trainers, equipment, classrooms and assessors, automating much of the planning process and alerting staff when insufficient resources are available for any given event.

The new module also ensures that training and assessment results can be recorded via the Assure CMS database, although this level of integration is optional.

The new database offers a whole host of benefits to RPD, as Karen Harding, Marketing Manager at Objective, explains.

"The module was developed in order to efficiently deal with the complexity of multiple trainers, ensuring that different resource types and requirements are recorded for each event," she says. "It also offers a useful search and edit facility to allow staff to add resources and edit details as and when they need to."
