Delphian School Alumna Aids Syrian Refugees

    MCMINNVILLE, OR, January 27, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Delphian School graduate and local McMinnville resident, Christine Anderson, traveled to Athens with the relief organization "Carry the Future" in December. The organization works to provide baby carriers for refugees fleeing Syria with their children.

Anderson spent ten days in Athens, fitting refugees with carriers, passing out bottled water and food, and even - in one case - leading a group of refugees from the dock to the train station so they could continue on with their journey.

When she returned to Oregon, she was interview by local newspaper "News Register" about her experience. "The Syrian refugee crisis had been on my radar for a while," Anderson said. "I kept hearing about all these tragically awful human rights violations, and I wished there was something I could do. But all the way in the U.S., it's hard to feel like you can do something about it."

So, when she found that she could make an impact in the lives of displaced people, Anderson jumped at the chance. After helping refugees day and night for ten days, she returned home to make way for another group of volunteers. However, Anderson isn't done helping. "What this one person can do has not fully been done yet. It broke my heart to leave, but it was time to come home to my family for now."
