New Jersey Criminal Defense Lawyer Anthony J. Vecchio Sponsors $1,500 Scholarship Contest

    FREEHOLD, NJ, January 28, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New Jersey criminal defense lawyer Anthony J. Vecchio is sponsoring a $1,500 scholarship essay contest that is aimed at raising awareness about our country's criminal justice system as well as helping students to cover the costs of their higher education.

The application is open to students nationwide who plan to attend a four-year institution of higher learning. To enter, applicants must be students accepted to an institution of higher learning and must be graduating high school, receiving a GED within nine months or college students.

Two winners will be chosen: First place ($1,000) and second place ($500).

The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition and/or related expenses such as books and supplies. The winners will be announced on May 1, 2016.

In addition to meeting all requirements and submitting an application, the winners will be selected based on their school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance and professional pursuits.

They must also write a creative essay of 600 words or more on this topic:

Do you think the criminal justice system focuses on punishment more than rehabilitation for criminals? What should be the focus of our criminal justice system?

The essay must show thorough research on the subject and clearly justify the student's position.
