LOS ANGELES, CA, January 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Affirming that the digital economy truly is borderless, Angelo Camillo, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Strategic Management in Woodbury University's School of Business, has been named international coordinator of Sinergie, The Italian Journal of Management's 28th Annual Conference, "Management in a Digital World: Decisions, Production, Communication: A Meeting to Debate Management Challenges in the Digital Age."
Bringing together scholars from across Europe and around the globe, the June 9-10 gathering at the University of Udine, near Venice, Italy, attracts academics from various disciplines within business and management. "The phenomenon of digitalization has had a profound effect on economies... and has resulted in a reconfiguration of learning, production [and] consumption... along paths that have presently only been partially defined or are yet to be completely traced," the conference abstract notes (http://www.eng.sinergiejournal.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=519&Itemid=168).
Among the topics under consideration at the Udine conference:
o Finance and "risk" in the digital world
o Emerging intermediaries in the digital marketplace
o Changes in consumer behavior patterns
o The meaning of "craftsmanship" in "ownerless" production (e.g., 3D printing)
o Social media and consumer relationships -- experiences and sharing value
o The "Internet of Things" and consumer knowledge
"These transformational processes are creating new notions of 'value,'" Dr. Camillo said. "Along with public institutions, private firms can and must become fully engaged in this digital revolution. By examining digitalization from an analytical/management perspective, we hope to break new ground researching the effect of digitalization on interactions among subject-systems and between firms and the environment."
Dr. Camillo teaches courses in Strategy, Global Enterprise Management, Business Ethics, Organizational Behavior, and special topics in Hospitality Entrepreneurship and Business Development. His research encompasses three streams of interest that reflect his specializations and courses he teaches: Strategic Management (Mainstream), Industry Specific, and Cross-disciplinary. Research topics include Strategic and International Management, Food and Wine Business, Marketing Best Practices, Social Responsibility, and Ethics. He is also Visiting Professor at various institutions in Europe and China, where he teaches Global Entrepreneurship and International Management. His international industry experience as an expatriate executive spans 35 years in 10 countries and four continents.
