We brought a sample part to the show last year and found very high interest among manufacturers
CLEVELAND, OH, January 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Avalon Precision Metalsmiths, an investment casting company with operations in Markesan and Jackson, Wis., and Cleveland, Ohio, debuted a 1911 handgun frame at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), Jan. 19-22 in Las Vegas.
The company has designed the 1911 frame to enable gun OEMs to machine the part to their own specifications, said Kevin Glazier, Vice President of Engineering.
"We brought a sample part to the show last year and found very high interest among manufacturers," he said. "We've been working in earnest over the past six months to finalize the design and expect to start full production within the month."
Avalon, with more than 75 years' experience casting components for the military vehicle, gear and firearms industries, among others, plans to pour the 1911 frame at its Jackson facility with 356 or 357 aluminum, stainless, or 4140 carbon steel, Glazier said.
"With our long and successful history producing investment castings for military and firearms suppliers, we recognized the industry's interest in having more options for the 1911 frame and have made the necessary investments to fully support our customers," he added.
