Ixcateco Grill Celebrates Valentine's Day with New Menu Selections and Announces Weekend Brunch

Ixcateco's new dinner menu will debut February 9, just in time for Valentine's Day

CHICAGO, IL, January 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shhhhh! Ixcateco Grill (3402 W. Montrose, Albany Park, 773-539-5887), the popular new Mexican restaurant on Chicago's north side, is sneaking in new menu selections just in time for Valentine's weekend. The new dinner menu is scheduled to debut February 9.

While chef/owner Anselmo Ramirez says that the new items are still under development, he did mention that the new Mole de Rosa (Rose colored mole) will be a stunning dish, perfect to share with your significant other. When asked how the mole is prepared, he teased: "the ingredients are a secret, but some of the items that comprise the sauce include white chocolate, beets, chipotle chili and cinnamon. Delicioso!"

Women dining on Valentine's Day (Sunday) at Ixcateco Grill will receive a complimentary long stem rose.

Valentine's Weekend Brunch at Ixcateco Grill
Weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays has recently been added to Ixcateco Grill's offerings. Enjoy Weekend Brunch 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday during Valentine's Weekend for a special romantic treat and you'll most certainly want to come back for more on the following weekends.

Don't let the name fool you, especially on Valentine's Day--the Huevos Divorciados ($12) is an amazing signature brunch dish comprised, on one side of the plate, with a fried egg served on a crispy tortilla with black beans, covered in Molcajete sauce and garnished with chorizo and queso ranchero and, on the other side, a poached egg served on top of a masa boat with mashed potatoes covered in salsa loca garnished with crispy ham, sour cream and queso ranchero.

Ixcateco Grill's weekend brunch is a departure from typical American brunch offerings. Chef Ramirez' philosophy is to present a simple yet varied menu. "Our goal at brunch is to introduce to our guests to the types of food prepared in Mexico during the daytime hours, which is just as delicious and complex but a bit lighter than dinner fare," he said. "Our brunch menu offers some breakfast oriented items and some dishes that would be more associated with midday."

The brunch menu's authentic recipes are prepared on the wood grill and display Chef Ramirez' mastery of moles and sauces. Brunch starters include Ensalada de Betabel ($7) a salad made with roasted beets, jicama, watercress, goat cheese, and candy pecans tossed in a Pasilla Orange dressing. The Yogurt ($6), served with fresh fruit, honey agave and garnished with granola, is a very pleasant beginning.

Brunch entrees include Chilaquiles Verdes ($9), crispy corn tortillas soaked in salsa loca garnished with sour cream and queso ranchero and served with black beans; Chilaquiles Rojos ($9) are crispy corn tortillas sauced in Guajillo cream, garnished with queso ranchero and served with choice of eggs.

Another standout brunch dish is the Enchiladas ($11), rolled corn tortillas stuffed with poultry carnitas, scrambled eggs, and serrano pepper covered in salsa loca and finished with melted Chihuahua cheese, onions and cilantro.

Rounding out the menu are two delicious egg dishes. Huevos a la Mexicana ($9) are Mexican scrambled eggs mixed with Pico de Gallo, accompanied by black beans; and Huevos Con Chorizo ($10.50), scrambled eggs mixed with chorizo and diced potatoes served with black beans.

Chef Ramirez also includes on the brunch menu his highly-praised dinner item, Carne Asada ($16.50), fire wood grilled steak accompanied by a crispy corn tortilla topped with black beans, Molcajete sauce, sprinkled with crispy ham and queso ranchero and a side of guacamole. For brunch, he tops the dish with a fried egg.

Other surprises include Chef Ramirez's take on a Mexican Toast using an artisan Mexican pouliche bread garnished with Maduros and seasonal fruit, and Cornmeal Pancakes with housemade Cajeta (Mexican Caramel) Sauce.
