Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Telisha Brown, APM, as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    HOUSTON, TX, February 03, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Telisha Brown, Senior Account Payable Accountant at Lukoil International Upstream West, Inc., has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field with an Excellence Award through Women of Distinction Magazine. Telisha Brown will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

Working in the oil and gas industry for a Russian oil company, Lukoil International Upstream West, Inc., Telisha Brown serves as a Senior Accounts Payable Accountant in their Houston office. Responsible for handling each and every invoice and expense related to the corporate office, she also issues corporate credit cards to employees for travel purposes and reviews each statement as they come in to be sure the cards are being used in accordance with company policy. Working in the field for more than 20 years, she initially began her career by accepting an accounts payable clerk position with Virginia Indonesia Company after first getting on board with them in 1989 in their telecommunications department.

"After five years with the company, working six months in telecommunications and five years in purchasing, I inquired about a position that opened up in their accounting department. The manager decided to give me a try even though I had no experience in accounting and I was thrilled," Ms. Brown recalled. "I love communicating with people and being in accounts payable allows me to do just that. Having good rapport with vendors and other employees is also key, as it always allows for a win-win situation."

Dedicated to working in a team environment that requires both patience and the ability to listen, Ms. Brown knows that she made the right decision when she moved out of her previous field and into accounting many years ago. It is both a challenging and rewarding career and she loves the diversity her job provides. She has upgraded herself over the years with various courses, including obtaining the much coveted Accounts Payable Management (APM) certification. She instilled the spirit of self-motivation and discipline in her three children who are now successful in their chosen careers as well. Ms. Brown hopes to continue working in this capacity and striving for higher heights for many years to come.
