PRESTO, PA, February 03, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gail K. Neustadt (aka Dylan Weiss), Author of Sebastian's Tale, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Neustadt will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.
Sitting on two Parks and Recreation Boards as a strong and viable leader in her community, Neustadt spent more than 30 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. During that time she was also a Therapist, owned two practices where she served as Chief Financial Officer, and worked with the government's Medicare and Medicaid Services within the Department of Health and Human Services ushering in the prospective payment and quality monitoring systems for skilled nursing facilities.
Now focusing her career on writing, Neustadt, who goes by the pen name Dylan Weiss, has since published her first book, entitled Sebastian's Tale, which is now available on Amazon.com and for download on Kindle.
"It was in 2007 that a series of mystical events propelled me to begin writing a fantasy," Neustadt said, noting that writing can be a very lonely profession. "Writing is something I did throughout my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist with a specialty in geriatrics and, specifically, the development of individualized communication programs for individuals with dementia. The biggest challenge was having to design those programs for my husband David, who, in 1994, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. Strangely, it was the challenge of his disease that furthered my own self-actualization and personal growth."
Greatly inspired by friends Marat Moore and Dr. Michelle Bourgeois, both catalysts who helped launch Neustadt into her writing career. Moore, Retired Editor of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, and prior to that Publisher of the United Mine Worker's newsletter. Moore advocated against sexual harassment in the coal mining workplace and is author of 'Women in the Mines'. Bourgeois is most known for her time spent researching and developing memory books for those with Alzheimer's and related dementias and is a faculty member at the University of Southern Florida.
Sebastian's Tale is a political allegory about the destruction of Penn's Wood as told through the experience of woodland animals. The poignant fable appeals to all ages and can be appreciated on multiple levels.
