Terecita L. Dean Honored for Excellence in Dentistry

    ALAMEDA, CA, February 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terecita L. Dean, DDS, NMD, FAGD, Dentist of The Wellness Center has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in dentistry.

Dr. Dean has 31 years of professional experience, with 24 years as a dentist of The Wellness Center. Throughout her career, she has focused her practice on total body wellness and healing, as well as general family dentistry and sleep disorder related to the temporomandibular joint. On a daily basis, she is responsible for treating patients suffering from sleep apnea, chronic pain and acid reflux. Additionally, she performs full-mouth reconstructions and equips at-risk youths with educational, health and life opportunities to improve the outcome of future generations.

Dr. Dean hopes to inspire children to commit themselves to education and overcome the challenges they face in society. Through Kids on the Move America, she runs a 12-month program targeting 9- to 14-year-old at-risk, ethnically diverse, low-income girls and boys in Alameda County; she teaches them a variety of essential life and educational skills.

Looking back, Dr. Dean attributes her success to her passion for helping patients improve their quality of life. She became involved in her profession because she was always interested in osteopathic chemistry. The highlights of her career were overcoming poverty during her childhood in the Bahamas, earning an advanced college degree, and opening a successful dental practice.

Dr. Dean received a DDS from the School of Dentistry at Marquette University in 1985. She maintains affiliation with the California Dental Association, the American Back Society, the American Academy of Pain Management, ICCMO, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2010, she was presented with an Award of Excellence, and she has also received the Ester Leadership Award from the Oakland Rotary Club. In years to come, Dr. Dean plans to focus more on nonprofit programs that support women and children.
