Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Sandy Duckett as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    STURGEON BAY, WI, February 06, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sandy Duckett, Chief Executive Officer of We Are HOPE, Inc., has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Sandy Duckett will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

Chief Executive Officer of We Are HOPE, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to Helping Others Prosper and Excel, Sandy Duckett and her team manages one of the Wisconsin's Job Center, while providing career guidance and employment services to clients and businesses seeking to fill vacant positions.

"In my role, I work to identify problems and create solutions," Duckett said. "My tasks and functions vary from day to day, but the ultimate goal is for improvements to the organization to better serve the clients as well as the economy. Today, many people are making uninformed decisions about college and post-secondary education and yet still cannot find meaningful work upon college graduation. College debt is a growing concern and it is negatively impacting all industries. We look for the root cause of a problem and then look for a solution. Unfortunately, college debt is hindering the ability for individuals and families to invest in their future and it seems to be the main reason we have seen slow economic growth since the recession. If people are struggling in paying off student loans, they are not investing in their future or starting their lives."

One of the biggest projects currently underway at We Are HOPE, Inc. includes delivering their Be Smart About Education program. The program fills a void to help individuals make informed decisions about college, provide career guidance so individuals are ready for the job market upon graduation, and help reduce college debt.

Founded in 1978 as the Women's Employment Project with a grant from the US Department of Labor to create diverse employment opportunities for women, We Are HOPE, Inc. has since evolved to meet the needs of the entire district. Providing employment and home energy services to individuals and families in need in Door and Kewaunee counties, We Are HOPE, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.

"I enjoy working to improve the economy. Management experience in a number of fields that I've worked in allowed me to do so through various efforts. I've also been involved in several organizations, both public and private, that have enabled me to manage educational programs and economic activities that have helped to improve the overall economy, which has been very rewarding," Duckett explained about the direction of her career.

Duckett served for 11 years as the Chief Operation Officer of a College Foundation and was the Vice-President of College Advancement at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College where she helped identify new markets and provided hundreds of thousands of scholarship dollars to students. She is the former Director of Economic Development for City of Green Bay, a title she held for three years. She also worked with various industry sectors to expand the economy and grow jobs in the area.

In 2004, Duckett participated in the Oxford Roundtable where she studied with 30 other world educational leaders on 'How to Finance Education in the Future'. Her background in economic and educations stems from her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Silver Lake College and her Master's Degree in Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College. She is also one of 60 people in the United States certified in Downtown and Community Development. The recipient of numerous awards from Governors for Economic Development programs, Duckett has worked with many educational professionals from PK through age 20 and understands the funding make up of various secondary and post-secondary educational institutions.
