Harrow Sports Athlete Triumphs at The UCS Swedish Open 2016

    DENVER, CO, February 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Harrow Sports is thrilled to announce Professional Squash Player Karim Abdel Gawad is the 2016 UCS Swedish Open Champion. Ranked ninth in the world, Gawad was seeded second and beat Tarek Momen in the final with a 12-10, 8-11, 11-9, 3-11, 11-4 victory. Gawad's winning this prestigious Professional Squash Association World Tour title marks the first time an Egyptian has won the Swedish Open in twelve years, and is also the biggest win of 24-year-old Gawad's career; his first PSA M70 crown.

"I am delighted to win my first ever 70 K tournament," said Karim. "It's one of the happiest moments of my career so far!"

Joining the Professional Squash Association in 2008 at the age of seventeen, Karim immediately made a name for himself by winning the first PSA World Tour event that he competed in, the 2008 Goshen Cup. In 2013, he was the youngest player to crack the World top 20, and received the 2013 PSA Young Player of the Year award. In November of 2015, Gawad won the Edmonton Open, the biggest title of his career up until the Swedish Open. Most recently, Gawad won the January 2016 Men's Harrow Greenwich Invitational.
