Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Adina F. Garfinkel as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    BUFFALO, NY, February 14, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Adina F. Garfinkel, Case Manager at Erie County Department of Senior Services, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Adina F. Garfinkel will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

A Case Manager for more than 17 years, Adina F. Garfinkel always knew that she would pursue a career in geriatrics. Fortunate to be very close to her grandparents, she was continuously volunteering to lend a hand when they needed assistance. Appreciating the many challenges that people faced as they grew older, she appreciated the work and the families involved with caring for them.

Working for Erie County Department of Senior Services, Garfinkel works with senior citizens and caregivers alike. After first receiving referrals, she then meets with them in their homes to do evaluations, and together, with the client and/or caregivers, develops a care plan to address those unmet needs. The ultimate goal is to help them remain in the community safely and independently.

"I wish I could claim altruistic intentions as the reason for working this long in my field but, the truth is, I get far more from my interactions with clients and their families than they get from me," Garfinkel said. "The history they have experienced, the stories they share with me, and the wisdom they possess makes every day different and inspiring."

Thankful to two great supervisors who have mentored her along the way, Garfinkel prides on being compassionate and kind. Holding a BA in Psychology, she is also certified in Trauma Counseling, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and a Class Leader for Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
