This new addition to the Expo is designed to match up workers with companies in the commercial marine industry.
NEW ORLEANS, LA, February 19, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If you're looking for a great job and career, the Morial Convention Center will be the place to be when the WorkBoat Maintenance and Repair Conference and Expo hosts a free Maritime Job Fair and Job Advice Center from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.
"This new addition to the Expo is designed to match up workers with companies in the commercial marine industry," said David Krapf, editor in chief of WorkBoat magazine. "It will be an opportunity for attendees to build a career, make a move or expand connections."
More than 30 companies representing the commercial marine industry are expected to attend the Job Fair, which is presented in cooperation with the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
Adjacent to the Job Fair, the Job Advice Center will provide the resources and one-on-one advice from HR professionals about resumes, online application forms, interview etiquette, next career steps and moving up the ladder in the maritime industry.
The free registration for job seekers includes the Job Fair, Job Advice Center, admission to the WorkBoat Maintenance and Repair Exhibit Hall, and the keynote presentation from Jeff Skiles. Skiles was the first officer and co-pilot of US Airways Flight 1549 that made an emergency landing on the Hudson River in 2009. He will outline the lessons, training, and scenarios that led to the "Miracle on the Hudson."

About The Louisiana Maritime Industry
There are almost 55,000 maritime jobs in Louisiana that contribute over $3.5 billion annually to the state's economy, according to a study commissioned by the Transportation Institute last year. The study, conducted by Pricewaterhouse-Coopers (PwC), said that Louisiana also ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in maritime jobs per capita, with one in every 83 jobs connected to the state's domestic maritime industry.
According to maritime employers surveyed by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and the Louisiana Community Technical College System, companies will need as many as 3,000 additional employees for maritime operations in Louisiana in the next five years.
About the WorkBoat Maintenance and Repair Conference and Expo
Based on the success of the 2015 inaugural WorkBoat Maintenance & Repair Conference and Expo, the 2016 event will again bring together professionals from the commercial vessel maintenance and repair industry.
"This is the only commercial marine event dedicated to helping fleet managers, port captains, and operators keep their vessels in top condition and working hard," said Denielle Christensen, show director from Diversified Communications, which produces the award-winning International WorkBoat Show each year in New Orleans. "Professionals involved in commercial vessel maintenance and repair have been seeking a comprehensive event for their sector for a long time. The inaugural expo proved to be the best place to connect with people, products, and receive information and updates needed to keep up and stay ahead of the curve."
The 2015 inaugural event was attended by nearly 2,000 top commercial marine leaders. The 2016 event will build on this success and offer a unique combination of a custom-tailored conference program, a highly focused exhibit hall and extensive networking events.
Registration is now open for the 2016 WorkBoat Maintenance and Repair Conference and Expo at www.workboatmaintenanceandrepair.com.
