VIPUR-X will provide the common base platform for a number of upcoming projects. The overall flexibility of the design allows us to modify or add functionality in a very cost and time efficient manner
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA, February 24, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richland Technologies LLC (RTL) today announced the release of the Versatile Integrated Processing Unit Rev-X (VIPUR-X), the first in a series of DO-178C and DO-254 certifiable video processing and avionics computing platforms.
VIPUR-X provides an easy to use, modular architecture suitable for the rapid development and certification of a wide variety of safety and mission critical avionics applications. Based on RTL's Open Standard Re-configurable & Certifiable Computer Architecture (ORCCA), VIPUR-X marries proprietary image processing capabilities to high-performance multi-core processing power to create a platform that offers the highest level of reliability as well as significant savings in Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWAP-C).
Commenting on the launch of the VIPUR-X, Dave Simpson, Managing Director of Richland Technologies LLC, said: "The VIPUR-X will provide the common base platform for a number of our upcoming projects. The overall flexibility of the design allows us to modify and/or add functionality in a very cost and time efficient manner."
The modular flexibility of the VIPUR-X unit ensures it can be easily reconfigured to support a variety of popular form factors, sizes and connector types. With peak power dissipation at under 30W, VIPUR-X is an ideal solution for avionics environments where cooling is problematic. For avionics developers looking to develop safety critical applications, the VIPUR-X platform can be certified up to RTCA-DO-178C and DO-254 Level A.
VIPUR-X has a wide range of standard video interfaces alongside the common data interfaces for aircraft avionics. This makes VIPUR-X ideal for a variety of avionics domains including Enhanced Vision Systems, HUD symbology generation, primary flight systems and multi-function display processing.
RTL provides a software platform with VIPUR-X that is DO-178B/C certifiable, open architecture and developed in line with the FACE standard, which provides ARINC-653 compliant partitioning of time and space. The platform is flexible enough to host diverse software applications that fully exploit the power and versatility of the avionics computer.
