Taylor Re Lynn Supports Award Winning Film 'The Fencer' as Associate Producer

Fencing Past the Competition During the Academy Award Season

NEW YORK, NY, February 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Actress and Film Producer Taylor Re Lynn was announced as associate producer for the feature film The Fencer, which recently scored three nominations for the prestigious Jussi Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography. The film has already garnered accolades globally with a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, was on the Oscar shortlist and won the Bernhard Wicki Award in Munich, Germany.

A breakthrough film for its cast and crew, the Fencer has become an international sensation. Partially based on the life story of Estonian fencer Endel Nelis (1925-1993) the film tells the story of a significant phase in his life in which Nelis served as an educator and mentor to orphaned children--all set against the backdrop of a blood-pumping escape from Russian secret police. As a philanthropist and avid supporter of women and children's charities, Taylor was inspired by the moving story of Nelis' work with orphans.

"Klaus, Producer Kai Nordburg, and the entire creative and production team have been amazing. I am proud to support such a beautifully told story and phenomenal team of artists and filmmakers. Their nominations are a testament to their creative vision and the world is moved and responding," said Lynn.

About The Fencer
The Fencer (also titled Miekkailija) is directed by Klaus Haro and written by Anna Heinama. The film's stellar team of leading actors include Lembit Ulfsak, Kirill Karo and Mart Avandi.

The Fencer is a touching drama about love and a man who finds meaning in his life through the children who need him. A young man, Endel Nelis, arrives in Haapsalu, Estonia, in the early 1950s. Having left Leningrad to escape the secret police, he finds work as a teacher and founds a sports club for his students. Endel ultimately becomes a father figure to his students and starts teaching them his great passion - fencing causing a conflict with the school's principal. Envious, the principal starts investigating Endel's background . . .

Endel learns to love the children and looks after them; most are orphans as a result of the Russian occupation. Fencing becomes a form of self-expression for the children, with Endel becoming their role model. The children want to participate in a national fencing tournament in Leningrad, forcing Endel to make a difficult choice: risk everything to take the children to Leningrad or put his safety first and disappoint them.
