Alejandra Villarroel Mijares Honored for Excellence in Housing Finance

    OTTAWA, ON, March 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alejandra Villarroel Mijares, Senior Policy Analyst of Housing Finance and Capital of CMHC-SCHL, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. Ms. Villarroel Mijares has 15 years of professional experience, with eight years as a senior policy analyst of housing finance and capital for CMHC-SCHL. Throughout her career, she has set herself apart as an expert in the mortgage industry, especially with regard to underwriting. She is also skilled in bonds, securities, conducting research and ensuring client satisfaction. On a daily basis, she is responsible for analyzing financial markets, monitoring finance policies and trying to improve regulations.

Looking back, Ms. Villarroel Mijares attributes her success to her communication and problem-solving skills, as well as her ability to work with different stakeholders with different interests and being able to reach the best solution for all involved. She became involved in her profession after working at the Bank of Canada and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. She also has experience working on international research work for the World Bank, and providing assessment of other countries through analysis of their mortgage markets. Previously, she met with different stake holders (central banks, Micro-financing companies, financial regulators, and the Ministry of Finance), spoke to legislators, real estate appraisers and underwriters to help them understand all of the processes involved. This was to help ensure that people could afford their homes and that their homes were worth what they were valued at.

Ms. Villarroel Mijares received a master's degree in finance from Universite du Quebec in 2005. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Business Economies (CABE) and a fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). In recognition of her hard work, she was presented with a Gold Medal from the Canadian Bankers Association. In years to come, Ms. Villarroel Mijares aims to move toward a position that focuses on the decision making process.
