Kyle Kveton Named a Top Attorney in Southern California by Los Angeles Magazine

With years of experience as an attorney in Southern California, Mr. Kveton's work with Robie & Matthai sees him litigating commercial disputes, and providing defense in malpractice and malicious prosecution actions. He also is responsible for handling defense of claims against officers and directors, and litigation of insurance disputes. He maintains an ongoing appellate practice with published decisions in a variety of cases.

When asked about notable cases, Mr. Kveton recalled several memorable ones that stand out. He regularly represented a national brand in the form of a privately held pet food company in both litigation and transactional matters. He successfully defended an attempted nationwide class action by defeating class certification, with the denial of certification affirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He then recovered a multi-million dollar settlement for the client in litigation against a supplier.

In another case, Mr. Kveton was retained on eve of trial to defend an insurance broker against a multi-million dollar errors and omissions claim brought by an international entertainment company. He devised a strategy to permit a last-minute amended complaint to be filed by the plaintiff, and then successfully raised the statute of limitations defense on demurrer. Judgment in favor of the client was affirmed by the Second District Court of Appeal, with review denied by the California Supreme Court.

Mr. Kveton has tried more than 30 cases to verdict in areas ranging from mold exposure claims to technical insurance issues to professional liability and partnership disputes. This wide range of experience enables him to provide a realistic assessment of what a client faces when they choose to try, rather than settle, their dispute. Mr. Kveton received a JD from the University of Southern California in 1983. He was a member of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program, and he is a faculty member of the California Coast and Southern California Deposition Skills Program and the Southern California Regional Trial Skills Program, which are both sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and Litigation Counsel of America.
